The Isosceles Cross inside a circle is an archaic
symbol, whose origins are lost in the depths of time. It is used and has
been used by all European Nations, as well as the Near East Nations, the
Egyptians, and the Native Americans. It has also been carried by the
Mongols, the Japanese, the Indians, and many other nations. It has
neither now nor in the past been used by Semitic tribes, at least
according to the data from the archaeological excavations and the
historical chronicles that are known today.
Its interpretations, including all the differentiations from one Nation
to the other, are summarized in the following basic versions:
1) Sun Symbol, representing the Power of the Sun and the elements of
Fire (lightning, thunderbolt etc., in the four directions) at the Cosmic
Level
2) The Cycle of Seasons according to the Solstices and the Equinoxes
3) The Wheel of Life and Rebirth being symbolically connected with the
movement of the Sun in the vault of the sky (Swastika).
4) The Earth as a Holy Entity and the four Elements with the Sky that
encompasses them.
5) Direct depiction or alleged Symbols of Deities (of Solar Nature).
6) Symbol of Bravery, Heraldry of a Tribe and/or a Martial Caste
7) Finally, it is also recognized as a sacramental Symbol of the phases
of the Moon interacting in the Earthly Level.
We receive our perspective from the time this particular Symbol-Emblem
was first used - the Archaic years or even earlier- when its Meaning had
not yet been differentiated by the development of the value system and
from the Devotional frames that surfaced it out of the human
subconscious. We embrace it and we bear it as what it really is: an
Emblem that is Devine, Solar, Elemental, Devotional, Sacramental,
authentically National according to tradition, human and diachronically
indelible.
The later uses, at the levels where it was un-holified in people minds
(at least for a great majority), as well as how any social group or
individual has used it at will, especially nowadays that Sanctity is
reduced to being used even as a commercial signal, are not our concern,
neither are we the concern of such conditions.
For us such an Emblem, a personification of the Divine Sun, is not able
to be simultaneously a symbol of other use for some modern tendency,
unless it maintains the Interpretation as a whole and does not degrade
its characteristics, but on the contrary ratify them engulfing them into
the modern times and place the Emblem in his essential Dimension as it
is proper.
Gods represented by the Isosceles Cross inside a circle as it is
perceived by our disposition and our perceived representations (Not all
of the Solar Divine Entities):
• According to our National Tradition: Sun, Zeus, Apollo, Gaia-Uranus
(the Goddess in union with the Sun or as Divine Couple with Uranus),
Moon, Hyperion.
• Scandinavian- Teutonic Tradition: Wotan – Odin
• Celtic Tradition: Taranis
• Assyrian Tradition: Shamash
• Finnish Tradition: Jumala, Kuu
Of course, there are many more examples, whose mention is not required
by the present register that aims to clarify our Emblems, which can be
added in this the indicative list.
* Why do we use a Symbol-Emblem that is common to other National
Traditions instead of choosing an “authentic and only Hellenic” one?
An almighty Emblem that has been charged over the centuries with all
this Sanctity and has received the character of some very particular
local National elements cannot be considered “cosmopolitan”. And, of
course, this does not reverse its Archetypal character which is common
for all Nations in their Healthy substance. The fact that people drew
out of their Unconscious a Common Aspect is Normal and expected.
However, it does not signify an identification in any kind of ideology
neither is it some kind of “revealed truth”, nor is it a simple case of
copying one another, based simply on the aesthetic criteria – a common
trait of our era.
We will state it once more in different terms. The recognition of
Natural Laws and Cosmic Order, the Theological interpretation and their
rendition with Symbols inside the boundaries of Culturally Healthy and
civilized societies that simply recognized the obvious by living with
Nature can only be in touch with our own level of perception, in a
parallel way with every other Nation -especially in Europe that
constitutes the wider aspect of our Homeland in a Cultural and
diachronic sense- and perhaps especially beyond the Mediterranean area,
with the Scandinavians since there seem to be more things that connect
us than a first glance would reveal, studying the aspects of our
Mythologies.
In conclusion:
A sacred Emblem such as the Isosceles Cross inside a Circle is not just
an emblem we chose as a “sign of recognition” for an Organization, a
Legal entity, or a modern ideological formation.
Its Primeval Emblematical Archetypical Dimension, but also its
particular for the Hellenic National Value and usage, establish it as an
Alive and Sacramental Symbol in its crystal-clear form which, apart from
everything else-also has an important role as a Cult Symbol but also as
our Community’s heraldry, which we bear with honor and defend as one of
the Keystones on which, and also inside which, our National Heritage was
forged.
The basic characteristics of the elements of the Isosceles Cross inside
the circle, with emphasis given on their extension, for the Organization
Thyrsos Hellenes Ethnikoi.
Here we clarify, once and for all, our thesis for the Sacred Sun Disc we
use as one of our Emblems – Symbols, and its meaning for our
Organization Members and Friends, based on the aforementioned widely
accepted meanings and realizations, and their clarification through the
centuries.
The Circle
*The Circle is the Sky,
* It’s the Radiant housing of our Father Sun, His Devine Shine
* It expresses the Power of the Earth
* It is Eniautos (Time in its Proper Sense as well as its movement)
* It’s the Ethereal Level
* It is the schematic depiction of the Life-giving Energy for all of the
above
The Horizontal Axis
* It is the East-West Axis with a Western Direction as its dynamic
movement
* It’s separating the elements and at the same time due to the Vertical
Axis crossing it, it is also mixing the elements
* It is the point of contact of the Horizontal Human limbs with the
Energies of Circle in Tranquil.
* It is on this Axis that we locate the two first elements: Fire and
Earth with the Divine Entities that correspond to and Assist them.
* It is the level of the Earthly substance of Life and its Development
The Vertical Axis
* It is the South-North Axis with a direction towards the North and
Dynamic movement.
* It’s separating the elements and at the same time due to the
Horizontal Axis crossing it, it is also mixing the elements
* It is the depiction of the Intellectual Development from the inferior
to the Superior Level (Looking-Up) with the Solar – Etheric Level as the
Greatest Natural Level.
* It is on this Axis that we recognize the next two Elements: Air and
Water with the Divine Entities that correspond to and Assist them.
* It is the Point of contact of the vertical Human limbs with the
Energies of the Circle in Motion.
The two Axis perpendiculars to each other
* It is the Coupling of the dynamic Energies of all the Elements
* It is the Harmonious coexistence of the Material and the Etheric
Substance
* It is the Node in the Intellectual development during the Course of
Life
* It is the extension of the Force of the Solar Divine Energy towards
all directions and its never-ending Power.
* It is the place of Human in the Secular level. It is encompassed from
the Etheric level (Circle) and interacts on it.
As a Symbol, it is the most perfect depiction of the Harmony of the
Universal World.
